World Languages

This year we are offering summer camp programs in German, French, Spanish, American Sign Language and an Art class. Campers will explore two languages / camps through out the week, one in the morning and a second in the afternoon.  

Daily Plan

Camp is held Monday through Friday from 9:00 pm -3:00 pm. Early drop off is available from 7:30-9:00, as well as late pick-up  from 3:00 pm - 5:30 pm.  Campers will need:

  • Two different languages / classes will be held.

    • Morning camp 9:00 - 11:00​

    • ​Lunch Recess 11:00 - 12:00​

    • ​Orgnaized Games 12:00 - 1:00

    • Afternoon camp 1:00 - 3:00​


Word Travelers believes in the power of play in second language acquisition.  We strive to create a fun atmosphere in which children acquire the language through natural, relaxed interaction.  We believe these positive experiences lay an important foundation for a continued interested in learning languages.  

Our Counselors

Our camp counselors come from a variety of educational and professional backgrounds, and all possess a native or near-native fluency in the language they teach.  Counselors model the values of global education by speaking more than one language and embracing multiple perspectives.

Camp Counselor:


Branden Strauch is a father and educator.  He holds a M.Ed in Curriculum and Instruction and B.A. in German and History.  He teaches at Rilke Schule as a German immersion and English teacher.  Over the years, he has led numerous student clubs and camps.  His experiences include studying and traveling abroad, while finding time for family, friends, and the outdoors.

Branden at Brandenburger Tor, Berlin

Sasha Johnson is a German teacher with eleven years of experience working with students at the university, secondary, and elementary school level. She holds a M.A. in German Studies, a B.A. in German Language and English Literature, and has traveled extensively throughout Europe.  Most recently she spent three weeks in Leipzig developing STEM curriculum for German courses and currently teaches sixth grade German and Social Studies at Rilke Schule.
